Jurkovič Lookout Tower
Above Rožnov. Closer to the Beskid Mountains.
Set off directly from Horal and in approximately thirty minutes you will find yourself beneath one of Dušan Jurkovič's most distinctive creations.
A walk through the forest. Architecture with a story. Rožnov below.
A lookout tower that waited more than a century to find its place.
Dušan Samo Jurkovič created the original design as early as 1896. Yet the tower based on his plans was not built above Rožnov until more than a century later, opening to visitors in 2012.
Stone, timber, vibrant colours and handcrafted details connect Jurkovič's distinctive style with the landscape from which the tower rises.
Half an hour uphill. No need to take the car.
You can walk to the lookout tower directly from the hotel. The route leads through natural terrain and makes a pleasant trip in its own right, or a perfect extension to a visit to the Wallachian Open Air Museum.

Timber, colour and craftsmanship.
The lookout tower is more than a place to admire the view. It is an architectural experience in its own right. A stone base supports the wooden structure, whose distinctive colours echo Jurkovič's buildings at Pustevny.
- structural elements made of oak
- spruce and fir used for other parts of the structure
- handcrafted carpentry, blacksmithing and metalwork details
- seven vertically arranged levels

A view that brings the town and mountains together.
From the viewing platform, the Rožnov valley opens up below you, with views of the town centre, the Wallachian Open Air Museum and the Radhošť massif. The atmosphere changes with the weather, the light and the seasons.
Reaching the top is therefore more than simply the destination. It is a moment when the town below seems to fall silent.
Opening times depend on the season and weather.
The lookout tower is mainly open from spring to autumn, and admission is available for a small fee. We recommend checking the current opening hours on Rožnov's official tourism website before setting off.
Views above the town. Tranquillity beneath the mountains.
After the climb, return to wellness, good food and the kind of relaxation that is never in a hurry.
